Mrs. Pat Porter introduced NTI participants to an simple, yet effective writing strategy on March 10, 2010. Pat suggested selecting several words and/or phrases from a favorite book, then incorporating them into a piece of writing. Pat assured us the finished product would become a fresh, new piece of writing. She was right! Amazingly, the embedded words took on a whole new life. As our writers shared their work, a surprisingly wide variety of poetry and stories evolved from their chosen words and phrases. It was truly an enjoyable evening of poetry and storytelling.
I believe this idea will help even the most reluctant writers blossom into accomplished writers!
Give it a try! Joyce Webb
I agree. I plan to use this activity very soon. In fact, I may use it tomorrow for the Bell Ringer and see how it goes.
